Session 2 - Max Out in Prayer (David Platt)
David Platt's message tonight came from 1 Kings 18 when Elijah went to meet with the prophets of Baal, but as Platt pointed out, Elijah's story didn't begin there - It began with time alone with God. He also pointed out that the most important part of our life takes place when no one else is looking and we are earnestly seeking God through prayer.
"The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray." - Samuel Chadwick
Tonight we're spending time praying...
Max Out Academic Bowl Answers:
1. 3 apples (Two students answered "6" before Chase got it right!)
2. The Bible (Duh! The category is "Bible Facts! - But WTG Mary Ashley!)
3. Waffles (Another one for Mary Ashley!)
4. Scare him (Hunter seemed to think Steve's a baller, but Madison knows not
scare him!)
5. Samson (Well, "Samson" was the answer we were looking for, but we couldn't really say Madison was wrong with "Jesus!")
6. A cheerleader (Hunter redeemed himself with this one!)
7. The letter "E" (Did this one stump you?? We had some crazy answers but no one got this one...Even though Madison tried to use "Jesus" again!)
8. Acts (Yep, that's the longest in the NEW testament...another tricky one for our students who quickly answered Psalms!)
9. America (Japan and China were good guesses but this one went unanswered too!)
5,000 Bonus points to Sunny D! (Chase didn't finish it but he got pretty far so that works for us!!)
