Day 3!

Wow!! Today was our third and final day here at the camp since we'll be heading off to White Water & Atlanta tomorrow!

We spent the afternoon at the low ropes/challenge course...We split up into two groups and did lots of interesting team building games and challenges...

In this challenge we had to pass a hula hoop from person to person around the circle without letting go of each others' hands...We were timed, so the goal was to do it a few times and keep improving our speed...

Here we were playing "Gotcha" - Everyone had their right index finger touching the palm of anothers' left hand...Whenever the leader yelled "Gotcha" the goal was to close your hand around the finger in your left hand while not getting your own finger caught!

The famous Helium Hula Hoop!! This happens to be a personal favorite because it's always so funny to see people's reaction! Everyone places one finger under the hula hoop at waist level and the goal is to lower it to the ground...Easy?? Go get a few people and try it with a curtain rod! The thing is, at first, no matter how easy you think it is to just LOWER it, you will inevitably end up raising it HIGHER!

In this next challenge, we started off with just a partner and had to stand up together...Then we doubled to a group of four and then a group of eight! But the best part was when we were able to have the whole GROUP connected and stand together!!

Ever seen a hula hoop THIS big?! I bet a lot of students hope to never see one again! This challenge proved to be one of the most difficult and frustrating, but came with quite a bit of satisfaction once completed!

Photobucket

The way this worked was one person rolled the hula hoop down the field and the entire team (about 20) had to jump through the hoop before it fell over! Craziness!!

And now, on to the challenge course...

First we had to get the entire team over the wall...

Then through a tire suspended about 6' in the air...

Next we had to run buckets of water from one end to the other...Easy enough, except the buckets were full of holes!

Now on to the messy obstacle!!

Here, each student had to slide from one end of this pipe to the other. (Oh and did I mention the pipe had been covered in slime and was being sprayed with a fire hose??)

Next was the challenge of passing a heavy greased ball down the line without touching hands or moving our feet...

And finally, to finish the course, each student had to cross this twisty swinging bridge!

After finishing the challenge course we had about an hour before dinner so some of us chose to cool off in the pool!

And of course that means more launching people in the air!!

Grosser Than Gross!!

Wanna see a little "Grosser Than Gross" action from last night?? Be prepared...

Last night our brave students were lucky enough to get to drink a yummy smoothie created just for them with love by Steve! What's in this special smoothie you may ask...Hmm...Let's see...

Photobucket

Looks like some ranch dressing, mustard, cranberry sauce, Tobasco sauce, mandarin oranges, queso dip, tuna, green beans, ketchup and pickles!!

So who were our brave souls for our second round of this challenge??

Jennifer & Brett...

But no worries! These students didn't even flinch!!

Day 2!

Hello hello!! Sorry it's so late, but that's how we roll here at camp! Early mornings, late nights!!

We've really had another great day here together! The students are ALL having a blast! They've been doing great working together in their rec teams and have been having some great discussion in their rap groups!

Worship's been an amazing time of really feeling the Spirit of God here with us...I always love looking over and seeing entire rows of our students with their eyes closed and hands lifted praising our God through song!

Our big activity today was obviously the high ropes course! We weren't sure how many of the students would actually participate, but we were blown away at the fact that EVERY student here gave 110% and at least TRIED every one of the challenges! It was so awesome to see the students who'd been telling us for weeks that they'd be too scared to do the high ropes course actually get up and give it a shot and almost all of them finishing!

One of the elements we did today was the climbing wall...

Photobucket

Two other elements involved climbing a 40' pole and then basically tightrope walking over to the main platform before belaying back down...

One of these elements had vertical ropes spaced along the way to hold on to as you crossed...

Photobucket

And the other had a horizontal rope on either side of you so it was like walking across a bridge...

Photobucket

The most interesting element was called "The Pamper Pole"...Here you would climb to the top of a pole, balance on top of the pole, and then jump off Superman style out towards a target ball that you wanted to hit...

Photobucket

And then of course there's the good ol' zip line! For most of the students, this was the "easy" element, but to others this one required the most courage!

Photobucket

Tomorrow's another busy day for us so I hope we can all get a good night's rest tonight! Please keep praying for us while we're away, but specifically tomorrow as the weariness of two days of camp begin to wear on us all!!

And for your viewing pleasure I leave you with a variety of pictures from our adventurous day!!
