So we made it! (Despite, if you haven't heard, a minor bus issue! No worries though...We switched busses in Thomson and continued on our way!)
Now we're here, kicking it off in our first session and coming up with some creative team names!
Naomi representing the IncREDible Apes!
Maclain representing Sunny D!
Neill representing Yellow Fever!
Josh representing the Green Horns!
Grant representing the Blue Smurfin' Crew!
Mary Ashley representing the Purple Punishers!
Jessica representing the Pink-a-Boos!
Masha representing the Black Crackers!
And as a new tradition for JSM camps, we introduced the Jacob Davis Memorial Spirit Flag! This flag is a representation of Jacob's contagious, loving spirit! It has nothing to do with earning points or winning competitions...It's all about encouraging others, being a servant and having incredible team spirit. Each morning the flag will be awarded to a different team who will have their team name added to the flag.
The first team to touch the flag? Based on their team spirit and excitement leading up to camp...The Purple Punishers!!

Session 1 - What is Max Out? (Steve White)
Steve used the example of "Max Q" (maximum dynamic pressure) in the context of how we prepare to face pressure in our lives. Max Q is a pressure so great it can't be simulated. No trial runs...No practices...
It's easy to fall into the trap of not pushing ourselves to our max. It's like going to a weight room...We take on what we know we can handle and nothing more. We lay down on the bench and lift the bar because we know can and we lift it with ease. When someone actually tries to put weight on the bar we say, "No, I'm good!" - We become weak and when the moment comes where we're forced to lift something heavy we can't or we hurt ourselves trying and just give up altogether.
Over the next few days we'll be looking at different areas in which we can challenge ourselves to Max Out - In prayer, in integrity, in knowledge, in love, and in excellence...And then how not to quit!
Praying that all the teams Max Out while there at camp.
